Not to be confused with anything fun. Being a host for a tick often means experiencing years of painful and debilitati “It is during the introduction of saliva, and any regurgitation that may occur during feeding, that infectious organisms can enter the body of the host, causing disease . The ticks “can feed for up to seven days without causing irritation. The barbs on the tick's hypostome keep the tick anchored in place while it feeds. " My lyme disease continued to grow conducting itself in an unreasonably and unpredictably manner. Since it was left undetected and untreated for so many years it was able to successfully terrorize me - nearly destroying my mind, body and spirit. 'For three years I lived on five acres of tick-infested land on a Virginia mountainside. The numerous ticks traveled freely into our surroundings on the backs of animals. They attached themselves to any and all warm blooded animals – especially deer. These tiny ticks were everywhere. They liked hiding in the crispy underbrush of fields just as well as the carefully mulched gardens filled with echinacea, rosemary and sunflowers. They would wait in hiding (inconspicuously camouflaged) for a warm body to pass by. They found cats, dogs, deer and humans equally tasty. ' 'While healing/herxing I was generally unconvinced that the nasty and painful symptoms I was experiencing were part of my detoxing and healing process – even when my practioners told me so. I mistakenly believed that having symptoms meant that I was sick - not that I was healing. Fortunately for me, my practioners were basing their analysis of my condition and my level of healing not on my symptoms but on their clinical examinations and findings which consistently showed improvement - despite my misery.
